The 2027 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid gets a new top trim, the Calligraphy Black Ink, that trades every piece of bright trim for black. It starts at $59,280 with front-wheel drive or $61,280 with all-wheel drive, destination included.

The Black Ink is hybrid-only, built on the Calligraphy’s equipment, and it went on sale in July in three colors: Abyss Black Pearl, Ecotronic Gray Pearl and Creamy White Pearl. Hyundai’s $1,600 destination charge is folded into both prices.

Hyundai announced the trim in a July 7 release and listed the changes in detail. Outside, the Hyundai badges front and rear turn black, the lower grille gets dark-tinted chrome, the front and rear bumpers and skid covers are finished in satin black, the active air flap goes black, and the window surrounds, roof rails, D-pillar trim and alloy wheels are all gloss black. Inside, the silver accents on a standard Calligraphy are swapped for black on the steering wheel, window switches, door handles, speaker grilles, dashboard moldings, vents, climate controls and console bezels.

"Palisade has become a flagship for customers who want family utility without giving up a premium experience," said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president of product planning and mobility strategy at Hyundai Motor North America, adding that "Black Ink is that idea at its sharpest."

The mechanicals are unchanged from the Palisade Hybrid introduced for 2026. Carscoops reported that the 2.5-liter turbocharged hybrid makes 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft through a six-speed automatic with a 1.65-kWh battery, with expected economy of about 31 mpg combined for the front-drive model. The Calligraphy equipment that carries over includes Nappa leather with heated and ventilated front seats, heated second- and third-row seats, tri-zone climate control, twin 12.3-inch displays, a 12-inch head-up display, a 14-speaker Bose system and a dual-pane panoramic roof.

The Palisade is having a strong year on the back of the hybrid. Hyundai sold 10,327 in September, up 52 percent, and 98,682 through nine months, up 6 percent, which keeps it within reach of the 100,000-a-year mark in a segment where the Toyota Grand Highlander is the hybrid three-row to beat.

The HyundaiHQ Take

A blackout package on a Calligraphy is the easiest money Hyundai will make this year, and at $59,280 it is priced where a loaded Grand Highlander Hybrid Platinum lives, so the comparison is fair. The Palisade Hybrid earns it: 329 horsepower and a real third row at 31 mpg is the stronger spec sheet. The one thing missing from Hyundai’s release is an EPA number, and a buyer paying sixty grand for a hybrid should not have to find the mpg on a third-party site.
