The 2027 Kia K5 drops its EX trim and goes on sale as a three-model lineup, starting at $27,690 for the LXS and topping out at $33,790 for the 290-horsepower GT.

Between them sits the GT-Line at $28,690 with front-wheel drive or $30,290 with all-wheel drive, and every price excludes a $1,245 destination charge. Kia calls the 2027 K5 largely a carryover, with one addition: a convenience package for the GT-Line that bundles ventilated front seats, a driver’s memory seat and power-folding outside mirrors, features that previously lived further up the range.

Kia announced the lineup in a September 22 release that counts 17 standard collision-avoidance and driver-assistance features across every trim and confirms the GT keeps its 2.5-liter turbocharged four.

Losing the EX leaves a $5,100 gap between the all-wheel-drive GT-Line and the GT, which remains the only way to get the turbo engine and is sold with front-wheel drive only. The GT-Line’s optional all-wheel drive, a $1,600 step over the front-drive car, is now the sole all-weather choice in the lineup.

The K5 is one of the quieter success stories in Kia’s showroom. Kia sold 6,070 of them in September, up 15 percent from 5,290 a year earlier, and 58,681 through nine months against 52,581 in the same stretch of 2025, according to the company’s September sales release. The midsize sedan competes with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

The HyundaiHQ Take

Cutting the EX makes sense when the GT-Line already sells on looks and now carries the comfort features buyers were paying extra for, and $27,690 keeps the K5 among the cheapest midsize sedans on sale. The missing piece is still a hybrid, which Kia has never offered on the K5 while the Camry has gone hybrid-only and Kia’s own hybrid sales rose 152 percent last month. A GT-Line Hybrid would do more for this car than any package.
