The Base GV80 Coupe Loses Its Soft-Close Doors
The entry-level 2027 Genesis GV80 Coupe gives up ten pieces of equipment, including its soft-close doors, Nappa leather, digital rearview mirror and rear limited-slip differential, and gains the word Advanced in its name.
The entry-level 2027 Genesis GV80 Coupe gives up ten pieces of equipment, including its soft-close doors, Nappa leather, digital rearview mirror and rear limited-slip differential, and gains the word Advanced in its name.
The trim that was simply the 3.5T AWD for 2026 becomes the 3.5T Advanced AWD for 2027 at $77,200, and the equipment list Genesis published for it reads like a subtraction table. Leather replaces Nappa leather, the microfiber suede headliner and pillars are gone, the heated center armrest is gone, the power second-row seats become manual, the second row keeps its heaters but loses ventilation, and the soft-close doors, digital center mirror, road-noise cancellation, rear electronic limited-slip differential and Mood Curator cabin presets are all deleted.
The changes come from Genesis’s 2027 model year summary on its US newsroom, which lists the GV80 Coupe as a carryover model with three trims. The two upper trims are renamed as well: the 3.5T e-SC AWD, with the electric supercharger, becomes the 3.5T e-SC Prestige AWD at $88,500, and the 3.5T e-SC Prestige Black AWD carries on at $90,200. Destination is $1,595.
| 2027 GV80 Coupe trim | MSRP |
|---|---|
| 3.5T Advanced AWD | $77,200 |
| 3.5T e-SC Prestige AWD | $88,500 |
| 3.5T e-SC Prestige Black AWD | $90,200 |
Genesis has not published 2026 prices for the two lower trims on its newsroom, but the Prestige Black offers a direct comparison. When the brand introduced the blacked-out trim in August 2025 it priced the 2026 GV80 Coupe Prestige Black at $89,400 with $1,495 destination, so the 2027 car is $800 more with another $100 on the delivery charge.

Some of what leaves the base car moves up the ladder rather than disappearing. Mood Curator and the Sevilla Red interior are now limited to the e-SC Prestige and Prestige Black, the newspaper wood trim that used to come on the base model is now exclusive to the e-SC Prestige, and a spun aluminum garnish takes its place on the Advanced. The Prestige trims also add a front passenger memory seat with power bolsters, cushion extension and Ergo-Motion that was not offered before. Black brake calipers are now a Prestige Black exclusive rather than shared with the e-SC car.
The paint chart turns over too. Ceres Blue and Ceres Blue Matte are new for 2027, Capri Blue and Mauna Red are dropped, and Genesis deletes the rear badging that identified the engine and drivetrain on every trim. The regular 2027 GV80 gets a similar treatment on a smaller scale, with Mood Curator pulled from its lower trims, Bering Blue and the two Ceres Blues added, and a lineup that now starts with a $58,850 2.5T RWD and ends with an $84,100 Prestige Black.
The HyundaiHQ Take
Renaming a stripped trim Advanced is the oldest trick in the product-planning book, and buyers who cross-shop the 2026 base Coupe against the 2027 one will notice that the car lost soft-close doors, a diff and Nappa leather while gaining a name. The move makes sense from Genesis’s side, because the Coupe is a style purchase and the people who want the full experience will step up to the $88,500 e-SC Prestige anyway, but it also widens the gap between the two versions to more than $11,000. If dealers still have 2026 base Coupes on the lot, that is now the better buy.
